Brief statement of intended use: NIGHT & DAY lenses (lotrafilcon A) are indicated for daily wear or extended wear for up to 30 continuous nights.

Relevant warnings: The risk of serious ocular complications is greater for extended wear as compared to daily wear of contact lenses, and smoking increases these risks. The long-term risk of microbial keratitis has not been determined for this lens. Post-marketing studies are in progress.

Relevant precautions: Not all patients can achieve the maximum wear time of up to 30 nights of continuous wear. Patients should be monitored closely during the first month of 30-night continuous wear. The maximum suggested wearing time should be determined by the eye care professional based upon the patient's physiological eye conditions because individual responses to contact lenses vary.

Side effects: Infiltrative keratitis was reported at a rate of approximately 5% during the 1-year U.S. study of the 1,300 eyes. Other side effects included conjunctivitis, GPC and lens discomfort, including dryness, mild burning or stinging.

Contraindications: The lens should not be used when an inflammation or infection of the eye is present, or when there is any disease or injury in or around the eye or eyelids. The lenses should not be used by individuals who have medical conditions that might interfere with contact lens wear.
